Art Theft…

While on the unfortunate topic of stolen art, I suppose I’ll go ahead and ask a 4th of July favor.  If you see fireworks with Lackadaisy art on the packaging, please don’t buy it.  The art is stolen - no less than 7 different paintings.  I’ve known about this for about a year, but so far all attempts to contact the manufacturer/distributor have yielded no response or left me at voice messaging dead ends.
These photos are from someone who spotted them and was kind enough to contact me about it.

Jake’s Fireworks is the name of the company, and they appear to do their own manufacturing in China (which ostensibly means they create their own packaging too).

Hey, look.  It’s another Whitehouse.gov petition on your dash.

This one’s about mental health.  And a thing that I - as a perpetual sufferer of unfun things like anxiety and depression and dissociation - feel pretty strongly about.  Right now, it has a little over 1,000 signatures.  The one about building a Death Star had 34,000 signatures.  I like a good Star Wars joke as much as the next person, but come on.

With my insurance (and this is pretty common), all mental health services need to be pre-approved, or else you get hit with fines or they don’t cover what meager bits they were going to cover.  And as anyone with mental health issues knows, jumping through hoops and feeling like you have to prove that you’re “crazy enough” to a total stranger before you can get help makes things worse, as does the feeling that your insurance doesn’t actually want to provide these things in the first place.

Insurance companies barely cover therapy, chances are the therapist you finally mesh with isn’t even in your network, medications sometimes aren’t covered equally (not to mention most of them being name brand and thus ridiculously expensive), and god forbid you end up hospitalized for your own safety…and didn’t call that 1-800 number to get it pre-approved.

Meanwhile, you can break your arm, have your appendix explode, pass out in a grocery store, and get Viagra all without much fuss.

Please.  Sign this.
